Yacht Management Programme

Yacht Management in Zanzibar Your catamaran earns. We handle the rest.

Yachtsun Charter offers yacht owners and investors full management of their yacht in Zanzibar: charters, crew, maintenance and local administration. We focus on new yachts and help you from A to Z: from choosing and buying the yacht to delivery and local licensing. You receive your share of the net charter revenue every month, with transparent reporting and no involvement in daily operations.

* 65% of net charter revenue, depending on the agreement and vessel type. The yacht's operating costs (marina, insurance, maintenance, permits, crew) are paid from the owner's share, so the final take-home is lower and depends on the agreement. ** Average occupancy of our managed catamarans (sailing days, weekly and day charters), January–September 2026, with 8% more sailing days than in the same months of 2025. We are still growing: fleet occupancy rose from 22% in 2023 to 49.6% in 2025. *** Up to 4 weeks, subject to availability.

Why Zanzibar

A new yachting destination with huge potential

Zanzibar is a newly developing area for yachting: an undiscovered place, unlike Croatia, Greece or Spain. Wild islands, beautiful sandbanks and local culture make it a perfect charter location.

3 main islands: Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia
43 smaller islets, most of them still uninhabited

The potential for development is huge. In the near future Zanzibar could become the most attractive sailing destination in the entire Indian Ocean, and your yacht can be part of it.

Why Yachtsun Charter

The largest fleet operator on the East African coast

After years in the yachting industry in the Caribbean, Croatia and the Seychelles, we became a fleet operator in Zanzibar in 2022. Our team of 23 includes shipowners, skippers, deckhands, chefs, technicians, a maintenance team and a marketing team. Our base is Azam Sport Marina, the fastest-developing marina in Tanzania.

  • 5-star service for every guest who sails with us
  • Frequent participants in international yachting events
  • Cooperation with many international agencies across the globe
  • Active mailing and social media marketing
  • Regular meetings with shipowners: we make decisions together and share ideas
  • The only dedicated marine parts store on the island, run by our team
  • A family atmosphere where everyone knows each other

How the programme works

From choosing your yacht to its first charter

We focus on new yachts and support you from A to Z. You own the yacht; we take care of everything needed to get it working in Zanzibar.

  1. Choose & buy

We help you choose the right new catamaran for charter in Zanzibar and support you through the purchase.

  2. Handover inspection

Our specialists inspect the yacht at handover, so it is accepted in the condition you paid for.

  3. Delivery to Zanzibar

We organise the yacht's delivery to our base at Azam Sport Marina.

  4. Papers & first charter

We handle the local documentation and licensing so the yacht can operate legally. Then it starts sailing, and you receive your share every month.

Once your yacht is in the fleet, all charters are managed exclusively by us: bookings, guests, crew, logistics, maintenance and local administration. Weekly charters are our main focus; day charters to sandbanks and islands fill the schedule. Every owner gets a tailored agreement, negotiated individually.

Owner income

65% of the net charter revenue goes to you*

Owner: 65% of the net charter revenue, paid monthly.

Yachtsun Charter: 35% to cover management, marketing and operational costs.

* Depending on the agreement and vessel type. The yacht's own running costs (berth and marina fees, insurance, maintenance and service, permits and crew) are paid from the owner's share, so your final take-home is somewhat lower. Crew costs are partly reimbursed for every charter day.

Owner's benefits

  • Passive income with no operational responsibilities
  • Free private use of your yacht for up to 4 weeks per year (subject to availability)
  • Professional maintenance by our in-house technical team, with parts from our own store
  • Marketing and bookings handled by our sales team with a global partner network
  • Local crew and base team caring for every guest and for your yacht

Illustrative estimate only. This calculator is a simplified model based on the assumptions you enter. Reference values come from our managed fleet (2023–2026, catamarans 6–8 years old). Operating costs are always deducted; the yacht's value at sale and its depreciation are your own estimate, not a valuation. It is not an offer, a guarantee of income or financial advice. Actual results depend on the individual management agreement, the yacht, the charter market, costs, exchange rates and taxes. Nothing you enter here is stored or sent anywhere.

How much of the charter revenue do I receive?
The owner receives 65% of the net charter revenue, depending on the agreement and vessel type. Yachtsun Charter retains 35% to cover management, marketing and operational costs. The yacht's own running costs are paid from the owner's share, so the final take-home is somewhat lower and depends on the agreement.
Which costs does the owner pay?
The yacht's running costs: berth and marina fees, insurance, maintenance and service, permits and crew. Crew costs are partly reimbursed for every charter (sailing) day. Major technical works or refits above an agreed threshold need your approval.
How often am I paid, and what do I receive?
Income is transferred monthly. You also receive transparent monthly financial, operational and technical reports with detailed financial statements.
Do I need to be involved in daily operations?
No. We take care of everything, from sales and crew to maintenance and local administration. All charters are managed exclusively by Yachtsun Charter.
Can I use my yacht myself?
Yes. Owners can use their yacht privately for up to 4 weeks per year, free of charge and subject to availability.
What occupancy can I expect?
Weekly charters are our main focus, and Zanzibar is a year-round destination. Our fleet reached 54.5% occupancy in January–September 2026, with 8% more sailing days than in the same months of 2025, up from 22% in 2023 and 49.6% in 2025, and occupancy is still growing. Day charters to sandbanks and islands help fill the remaining schedule.
What kind of yachts do you manage?
We focus on new catamarans and help you from A to Z: choosing and buying the yacht, a handover inspection by our specialists, delivery to Zanzibar, and the local documentation and licensing so the yacht can operate legally.
What are the contract terms?

Who maintains the yacht?
Our in-house technical team: two to three skilled technicians on site, depending on the season, with full storage of spare parts and equipment. We also run the only dedicated marine parts store on the island, which also supplies external yacht owners.
